Bus Driver: Freeport, Illinois – 1st Shift
Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and the general public. This position does not require CDL.

Responsibilities of the Bus Driver:

• Safely operate Senior Transit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and agency policies.
• Transport passengers and authorized items based on assigned routes and schedules.
• Provide portal-to-portal assistance to passengers as needed in a courteous and safe manner.
• Operate wheelchair lifts following training and safety guidelines.
• Communicate onboard procedures including seat belt use, no smoking, and passenger safety rules.
• Follow emergency procedures and immediately report accidents as required.
• Complete daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and in proper working condition.
• Report mechanical issues and assist with scheduled maintenance.
• Attend required training including Drug & Alcohol, Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance, and Emergency Procedures.
• Accurately complete trip logs, inspection forms, fuel records, and donation documentation.
• Handle fares and donations according to agency policy; tips and gifts are prohibited.

Bus Driver Requirements and Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with appropriate classification.
• Safe driving record with no reckless or major violations in the past 3 years.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, DOT physical, and background check.
• Ability to pass required knowledge and road tests.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and local geography of Freeport and Stephenson County.
• Physical ability to assist passengers, including wheelchair and mobility-impaired clients.
• Ability to follow emergency and safety procedures.
• Professional, patient, and service-oriented attitude.
• Availability for flexible hours as needed.

Pay for Bus Driver: $17.00 per hour.
