Job Description

The Associate Director, Medical Insights leads the development and operationalization of standards, processes, and frameworks for capturing, analyzing, and reporting insights across Medical Affairs + Health Impact (MHI). This is a newly created role designed to establish center-of-excellence capabilities for medical insights within MHI. Serve as a strategic connector between Business Unit Therapeutic Areas (BU TAs), International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team—ensuring insight capabilities are built for long-term organizational success and adopted effectively across the enterprise.

Responsibilities :

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams both within MHI and across AbbVie to understand their insight related needs and operational workflows and apply knowledge to develop insights capabilities that drive process excellence and contribute to the long-term success of the MHI organization"
2. Serve as a liaison between BU TAs, International TAs, and the Medical Engagement team to drive implementation of standardized processes and frameworks for capturing, analyzing, and reporting medical insights
3. Partner across Technology, Operations, and other teams to implement and operationalize insight capabilities
4. Scale the Medical Engagement Blueprint across Therapeutic Areas, driving consistent adoption and utilization
5. Create tools and methodologies for synthesizing insights from various sources, including field feedback, to provide actionable recommendations for the MHI organization
6. Identify key sources of insight for MHI, including existing and novel datasets, and develop an approach to analysis
7. Monitor capability rollouts, track adoption, and identify adjustments needed for future deployment waves
8. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to insights management and synthesis
9. Prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
10. Continuously evaluate and improve the standards, processes, and framework for capturing, analyzing, and reporting on insights, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of MHI

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD) highly preferred.
2. Experience leading large-scale, global transformation initiatives that span People, Process, and Technology, with demonstrated strength in capability building, change management, and stakeholder alignment.
3. Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, matrixed environments while maintaining strategic vision and driving measurable outcomes.
4. At least 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent with Bachelors or 4+ years’ of experience with Masters or 2+ years with PhD.
5. 3-4 years of experience in Medical Affairs highly preferred
6. Demonstrate creative ‘out of the box’ thinking to solve difficult unstructured problems.
7. Stakeholder management and leadership skills in matrix organization.
8. Strong analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and creativity in problem solving.
9. Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex medical/clinical concepts and processes in both written and oral communication.
10. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
