Veterinary Technician
Premier Veterinary Group in Chicago, IL is hiring a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Internal Medicine team. Everything we do reflects this belief.-- We commit ourselves to acting with respect, honor, and dignity toward our patients, clients, and colleagues.At Premier, an Internal Medicine Technician is responsible for anticipating and meeting the needs of the Internist.--Sophisticated testing and equipment often aid in the diagnostic process, and it is the responsibility of the IM Technician to set up and assist with a variety of procedures (see 'common procedures' list).-- An IM Technician must be familiar with a wide range of laboratory tests, and will be required to properly obtain, store and process lab samples.-- Many procedures require sedation or general anesthesia, and an IM Technician may be asked to monitor very high-risk anesthetic patients.An Internal Medicine Technician is a primary contact to the clients beginning with the initial triage/exam. An IM Technician prepares and presents estimates for procedures to be performed, updates owners regarding patient status, and presents patient discharge information.-- The IM Technician assists with medical record keeping, prepares invoices, manages laboratory results, and aids in patient scheduling. An IM nurse often acts as a liaison between the doctor and client and will assist with patient follow-up, client communication, and managing long-term care for a variety of chronic and complex diseases.--Compensation:$23-32/hrCommon procedures:Ultrasound, ultrasound guided FNA/BiopsiesECGs/EKGsAbdominocentesis, thoracocentesisEndoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Rhinoscopy, CytoscopyCT Imaging, contrast studiesBone marrow aspirates/biopsiesCSF tapsACTH Stimulation testGlucose CurvesJoint tapsArterial blood drawsBAL/TTWChemotherapy administrationRequired basic veterinary technician skills:CVT or experienced nurse with a minimum of 3 years in emergency or specialty setting with advanced anesthesia experience (ASA 3-5)New graduates or current CVT--students are welcome to applyMust have excellent communication skillsProper animal restraintPeripheral catheter placement and properly securing themVenipunctureKnowledge of various routes of drug administrationCalculation and administration of fluids and medicationsAseptic surgical area preparationMonitoring and recording vital signs (TPR, SpO2, CO2, BP)Basic in-house laboratory testing (CBC/Chem, Lytes, IStat, UA)Maintain proper medical recordsAbility to lift a minimum of 35 poundsStand on feet for long periods of time---- ------------------Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.Ethos Veterinary Health is at the forefront of innovation and world-class medicine.
