Industrial Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Systems
A day in the life
You start your shift with a walk-through of the plant, checking critical assets: pumps (mag drive and mechanical seal), grinding mills, valves, compressors, and packaging lines. A control panel alarm leads you to troubleshoot a motor control circuit; later, you calibrate plant instrumentation to keep processes in spec. Before lunch, you schedule preventive maintenance on forklifts and aerial lifts, then turn to infrastructure—verifying steam generation and cooling/chilling systems meet mechanical compliance requirements for state-regulated equipment, including fire systems, boilers, and pollution control. When a quick fix calls for fabrication, you’re ready to cut, fit, and assemble piping—welding and pipe assembly skills are a plus. You wrap up the day by logging PMs and pitching ideas at a safety and site improvement huddle.
What you’ll own
- Preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on facility and process equipment: pumps (mag drive, mechanical seal), grinding mills, valves, compressors, and packaging systems.
- Diagnosis and repair of motor control systems and support for plant instrumentation.
- Service and upkeep of mobile equipment such as forklifts and aerial lifts.
- Operation and maintenance of infrastructure utilities (steam generation, cooling/chilling), ensuring mechanical compliance with state regulations for fire systems, boilers, and pollution control.
- Application of fabrication and piping capabilities; welding and pipe assembly experience preferred.
- Active participation in safety initiatives and continuous site improvement programs.
Pay
Salary Range: $25.10 to $38.23. Compensation for this role is negotiable based on experience and skill set.
What you bring
- High School Diploma.
- Technical School Certification or 2–3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination).
- Background in automation or fabrication (required).
- Ability to interpret basic mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience with welding and piping assembly (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
