Who are we looking for?

The purpose of this position is to lead and manage all activities within the manufacturing operations at our Itasca facility, specifically related to the Semiconductor and Assembly business. The role is focused on driving continuous improvement in processes and key performance indicators, ensuring that operational budget targets are met and exceeded, and fostering the development and growth of both personnel and operational systems. It is also responsible for strengthening MAES Itasca’s competitive position, developing strategies to address future challenges, and identifying new opportunities that contribute directly to overall MAES profitability. Additionally, the position oversees key functional areas including manufacturing, planning, purchasing, materials control, engineering, maintenance, warehousing and distribution, as well as environmental, health, and safety.

What will you be doing?

As Operations Director, you will play a key role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of the organization by participating in strategic planning and developing robust operations management systems. You will coordinate operational costing and value systems, oversee the execution of both expense and capital budgets, and implement manufacturing policies aligned with the broader business plan. A major focus will be leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, capability, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency. You will be responsible for building an engaged and inclusive culture, developing and coaching your team, and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships to drive synergy across the organization. Additionally, you will manage customer issues to ensure timely resolution and satisfaction, improve processes and profitability through effective data management, and approve major purchases and capital expenditures. Your role will also include planning materials strategy, overseeing inventory control, and executing legislative and regulatory policies to benefit the company. Staying current with industry trends and maintaining competitive awareness will be essential, as will implementing improvement programs across key metrics such as delivery, quality, productivity, expenses, safety, housekeeping, customer complaints, overtime, and training. You will ensure a safe and inclusive workplace, direct safety and environmental programs to maintain a healthy work environment, and represent the company in Integrated Management System certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHA 18001, with knowledge of IATF 16949 considered a plus. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the success of the operation.

Who are You?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or engineering field
  • 5–10 years of experience in Operations or Supply Chain Management
  • Proven background in continuous improvement environments such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
  • Preferred experience in the Semiconductor or Assembly industry
  • Effective communication skills in English; Spanish and/or Mandarin is a plus
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, business publications, and regulatory documents
  • Skilled in responding to inquiries and communicating with customers, regulatory agencies, and business stakeholders
  • Proficient in writing clear, professional reports and business correspondence
  • Confident in presenting to senior leadership, public groups, and boards of directors
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, ratios, and volumes, and apply statistical and algebraic concepts
  • Capable of applying logical and scientific thinking to solve complex problems
  • Comfortable interpreting formulas, equations, and graphs, and working with both abstract and concrete variables

The typical base salary range for this position is between $141,200 and $211,800.
