Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and system design, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. The role involves creating and maintaining software applications for embedded Linux devices within Docker containers and on internal servers. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the effective interfacing of software with both new and legacy hardware, using a variety of protocols.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management on system design and technical inquiries.

• Assist customer support with technical issues and troubleshoot customer equipment.

• Support Engineering with testing and setting up tests in the lab.

• Develop and maintain software that interfaces with hardware using protocols like TCP, UDP, IP, MQTT, RS232, RS485.

• Manipulate a range of data types, working with bits and bytes.

• Create and maintain automated test cases for software validation.

• Utilize git and git workflows for version control and change tracking.

• Check hardware for compliance with specifications and document findings.

• Participate in product review meetings.

• Guide the Production/Repair team with manufacturing and setup inquiries.

• Update production build and test manuals with approved changes.

• Occasionally travel domestically to customer sites.

• Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure.

• Create and maintain automated test and deployment environments.

• Enhance development, test, and release processes through automation.

• Verify functionality and compatibility of new firmware and software releases.

• Identify technical problems and implement software updates and fixes.

• Ensure systems are secure against cybersecurity threats.

• Provide Level 2 technical support to internal customers.

• Perform root cause analysis for production software.

• Design and document troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.

• Manage software and firmware versions across multiple products.

• Construct and maintain a compatibility matrix for all products in a system.

• Generate documentation for system setup and management.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

• 8+ years of experience with Hardware and Software products.

• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

• Experience with cloud applications.

• Familiarity with git workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Golang, microservices, Linux, and Docker.

• Knowledge of technology associated with security video and IoT products.

• Experience with MQTT.

• Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

• Experience developing Fuel Management Systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $63.00/hr.
