Multi-spindle operator

Davenport Machine Setup & Operator | Sycamore IL | $35.00/ hour | Day Shift

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Davenport Machine Setup & Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Davenport multi-spindle screw machines to produce precision components according to specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working in a high-volume production environment with Davenport Machines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up Davenport multi-spindle machines, including tooling changes, adjustments, and calibration
• Operate machines to produce parts that meet quality and production standards
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings
• Perform routine inspections using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Troubleshoot machine issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency
• Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure machines are in proper working condition
• Monitor production output and make adjustments to optimize performance
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies
• Document production data and report any defects or inconsistencies

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience setting up and operating Davenport or similar multi-spindle screw machines
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and feeds/speeds
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with high-volume production environments
• Knowledge of secondary operations (thread rolling, knurling, etc.)
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing/production floor setting
• Exposure to moving machinery, noise, and metalworking fluids
• Standing for extended periods and lifting up to 20 pounds
