Company Profile:Structural Engineering Associates (SEA), Kansas City’s oldest continually operating structural engineering firm is seeking a candidate for our downtown Kansas City office. Founded in 1909, SEA has a long history in Kansas City, and our reputation for excellence has led to our involvement in some of the most notable restoration, repair, and historic preservation projects in the area. Duties and Responsibilities:Perform field investigations of existing structures, forensic analysis, preparation of repair and restoration reports, structural analysis of existing structures, preparation of structural repair construction documents and construction phase services. Project management including coordination with in-house structural design engineers and other disciplines, client contact, and project financial performance. Conduct client outreach and development of proposals. Oversight and mentoring of less experienced engineers and drafts persons. Perform duties within project timeline utilizing multiple codes. Provide support to Structural Design Engineering staff. Knowledge of structural framing systems, ability to understand load paths analyze existing conditions of structures and prepare drawings and specifications for repair projects. Create and publish design standards, to drive efficiency and consistency in design.Maintain project documentation, including calculations, project files, etcRequirements:The successful candidate must have their PE license and ability to obtain licenses in other states as required.Candidate must have a minimum of five years experience performing condition assessments and repair of existing structures.Previous project management experience and client contact a plusIndividual must be self-motivated, able to work independently, possess the ability to perform field investigations, work on multiple projects at the same time and communicate effectively with clients. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, clients, vendors, and contractors.Travel as required by project assignments (limited travel with overnight stays).Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills; adept at connecting with people in both formal and social settings.Enjoys representing the company at events, conferences, and industry gatherings to strengthen relationships and open doors.
