Benefits Specialist
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join our client’s Human Resources team. The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other employee perks. This role requires strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of benefits administration and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to employees.
Benefits Specialist Responsibilities:- Manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability and retirement plans. Ensure timely and accurate processing of enrollments, changes and terminations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries. Provide clear and accurate information about benefits options, eligibility and procedures. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, claims and other related issues
- Ensure that all benefits programs comply with federal, state and local regulations. Stay current with changes in benefits laws and regulations and assist in implementing necessary updates to policies and procedures
- Coordinate with benefits vendors and providers to manage services, resolve issues and ensure the quality of benefits programs. Review and analyze vendor performance and service levels
- Develop and distribute benefits-related communication materials, such as benefits guides, newsletters and presentations. Conduct benefits orientations and informational sessions for employees
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits records and documentation. Ensure that employee benefits data is correctly entered into HRIS and other systems. Generate reports and analyze benefits-related metrics to support decision-making
- Coordinate and manage the open enrollment process, including planning, communication and implementation. Provide support to employees during open enrollment periods and ensure that all changes are processed accurately
- Assist in developing and updating benefits policies and procedures. Ensure that benefits programs are competitive and aligned with organizational goals
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to evaluate the competitiveness of the company’s benefits offerings. Make recommendations for enhancements or changes based on findings
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or a related field is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in benefits administration or a similar role
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other benefits offerings
- Knowledge of federal, state and local benefits regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information in an understandable manner
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HRIS systems and benefits administration software
- Certification in benefits administration (e.g., CEBS, CBP) is a plus
