Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing, and managing all technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. You will oversee planning and coordinating technical engineering initiatives to complete projects within budget and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and manage assigned engineering projects and customer groups.

• Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.

• Interact daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements, and represent them in the field.

• Perform overall quality control of work, including budget, schedule, plans, and personnel performance, and regularly report on project status.

• Assign responsibilities and mentor project team members.

• Cooperate and communicate effectively with project managers and other project participants to provide technical support.

• Create project submittals that meet customer requirements.

• Manage a small group of Design Engineers, providing oversight and direction on projects.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant software.

• Experience in project engineering and design, specifically with enclosures, conveyors, and machine tools.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles related to mechanical, civil, and electrical disciplines.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and codes.

• Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.

• Familiarity with CAD software and project management tools.

Work Environment

The role is within a large, privately held company that designs and manufactures sheet metal enclosures and other special fabrications for metal cutting machines. The environment is clean and fast-paced, focusing on meeting OSHA requirements, ensuring safety, and maintaining coolant and chip containment, all while providing an aesthetically pleasing look to the machines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $47.00/hr.
