Job Overview
The Lazy Daisy Diner & Café is a new neighborhood café and diner in Urbana, Illinois, and we’re looking for a part-time host to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a passionate team players who bring their A-game, love sharing the hospitality love, and thrive when working together to create experiences that turn first-time guests into regulars. Weekend morning and early afternoon availability a must!

Duties

• Deliver excellent customer service
• Greet guests warmly and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and team members
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shift
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth service
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
• Adapt to various roles and support team as needed
• Manage an extensive waitlist with both online and in-person additions
• Bus and clean tables swiftly for a quick seating turnaround

Requirements

• Must be available to work weekend mornings & early afternoons
• Must be able to handle early mornings with a good attitude (or at least show up on time and pretend until the coffee kicks in)
• Strong communication and multitasking skills
• Current Illinois Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain within 7 days of hire)
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to stay calm under pressure during busy shifts
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow with the team
• Flexibility and a team-first mindset
• Food/ beverage/ coffee knowledge a plus
• Experience in a restaurant and/or café setting preferred, but we will train enthusiastic learners!
