Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current state nursing license Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using electronic medical records. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model. In this unit, our dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners provide specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include but are not limited to cardiac conditions, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Job Responsibilities: Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure integration of information for the healthcare team. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative for solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Floats to various inpatient units providing direct nursing care. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide patient care to diverse populations. Conducts and documents assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care. Acts as a resource to staff from various units. Coordinates care with multidisciplinary team members to facilitate and provide high-quality patient care. Prepares patients for procedures, provides pain management, performs IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitors labs. Discharges patients and provides instructions for a safe transition from the hospital. Documents all care using electronic medical records. Ensures team huddles are occurring and attends them. Delegates with appropriate follow-up. Answers call lights promptly. Ensures basic care such as turning, toileting, etc., is performed per standards of care. Handles conflict management and maintains professional communication with all team members. Provides post-operative care for complex surgical populations.
