Key Job Details – Radiation Therapist Position

• Job Title: Radiation Therapist
• Location: Galesburg, IL 61401 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Employment Type: Permanent, Direct Hire
• Setting: Hospital – Radiation Oncology Department
• Schedule: 5 x 8-hour day shifts per week (Monday–Friday)
• Shift Hours: Rotating between 7:00am–3:30pm and 8:00am–4:30pm
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Salary Range: $39.13 – $51.21 per hour
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1500 – $3540
• Sign-On Bonus: $30,000 (with 3-year commitment)
• Relocation Bonus: Discussed during interview
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• No weekends or major holidays required

Qualifications – Radiation Therapist

• Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology program (new grads welcome!)
• Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
• Active Illinois IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) licensure required
• At least 1 year of experience preferred; new graduates considered for entry-level radiation therapist jobs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient care and clinical teamwork
• Analytical skills to interpret physician prescriptions and accurately duplicate treatment plans
• Professional appearance and willingness to comply with hospital dress code
• Ability to pass a drug screen (drug-free campus)
• Applicants must not have applied directly to the facility within the last 2 years
• Willingness to relocate to Illinois for this hospital-based radiation therapist position

Radiation Therapist Responsibilities

• Review patient medical charts for prescription, treatment time, and prescribed radiation dose
• Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists for patient simulation and localization procedures
• Educate and support patients by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and providing care instructions
• Position patients accurately for radiation therapy, ensuring safety and precision in cancer treatment
• Operate and maintain advanced equipment, including CT/Sim, Varian Halcyon linear accelerator, and Aria RO
• Perform quality control tests on radiation therapy equipment and document results
• Fabricate custom treatment and immobilization devices for patient care
• Monitor patients during procedures, reporting any changes in condition to the healthcare team
• Maintain supply inventory and accurately enter treatment charges in the hospital computer system
• Participate in department training and orientation, including Varian Halcyon system training
