Responsibilities
- Assess surgical patients preoperatively to determine needs and plan care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Implement and evaluate a perioperative plan of care, contributing to patient safety and outcomes.
- Assist the surgical team intraoperatively, maintain sterile technique, manage equipment, and perform instrument counts as required.
- Communicate clearly with patients and family about procedures, expectations, and post-anesthesia care.
- Demonstrate clinical nursing judgment to identify and report changes in patient condition; participate in ongoing quality and safety activities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and meet applicable core measure responsibilities; participate in continuing education as directed.
- Float to clinically appropriate units within scope of practice and demonstrated competencies, as department needs dictate.

Requirements
- Licenses: Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications: Current CPR/BLS; ACLS (additional OR- or facility-specific credentials may be required as determined by the department)
- Experience: Perioperative nursing experience or operating room exposure; ability to support heavy ortho, urology, spine, and robotic procedures; willingness to float to other units as needed
- Education: Nursing degree from an accredited program (as required by state licensure)
- Other: Ability to work the listed shift in a hospital OR setting and function within a multidisciplinary team
