New Equipment Sales - Chicago
Your mission as an Equipment Sales Engineer is to develop strong customer relationships within your assigned sales territory by creating value, generating leads, and following up on opportunities that support business growth.
Your success will be measured by your ability to remain customer-oriented while identifying the most suitable value proposition for each customer. You will develop and execute a strategic approach to territory management, including new account development, opportunity management, and call planning. You will monitor market trends and challenge the status quo by identifying innovative solutions in an evolving customer and market environment. This role reports to the Regional Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide customers in designing compressed air solutions tailored to their needs and stay current on all product offerings.
- Prospect new and re-engage inactive accounts to generate revenue.
- Effectively manage quotes and follow up as required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts within the assigned territory.
- Audit compressed air systems, present findings, and collaborate with local utility companies to process energy-efficiency rebates.
- Support and grow the local sub-distribution network.
- Provide training to customers and sub-distributors and troubleshoot existing systems.
- Achieve Business Plan sales goals across product categories, including small and large rotary compressors, reciprocating compressors, accessories, and aftermarket services.
- Collaborate with internal sales teams and departments to develop strategies for customer retention and recovery.
- Utilize business tools such as Salesforce, CPQ systems, and ERP platforms to support quoting, follow-up, and activity tracking.
- Process customer orders and maintain the integrity of the post-sales process, including purchase orders, documentation, approvals, and contract reviews.
- Provide market, competitive, and customer feedback to sales and marketing teams.
- Conduct regular reviews with the sales manager and broader team.
- Contribute actively to team meetings and discussions.
- Travel daily within the assigned sales territory and domestically as required.
To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need
- 3+ years of experience in the compressed air industry or working with compressed air systems.
- A bachelor’s degree (preferred) in management, business, administration, marketing, engineering, or another technical discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- A strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and prioritize customer needs.
- A willingness to take calculated risks while evaluating potential challenges.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- The ability to manage varying workloads while remaining organized, assertive, and flexible.
