Recreation Supervisor

This position is perfect for a recent Parks & Recreation graduate or professional in the field. The Recreation Supervisor will plan, promote, organize, and administer community-wide programs and summer camps for all ages, as well as oversee the operation of the district educational preschool and swimming program. Instruction of swimming classes and some recreation/athletic programs will be included in this position that allows the candidate to gain experience in 1) a variety of interest areas, 2) supervising a staff of instructors and contractors, and 3) creating programs and special events from idea to implementation. This is a full-time position (with occasional work for evening and weekend special events) that is ready to get you to work immediately.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Education, or related field; Experience (either work or internship) in recreational programming; experience working with or programming early childhood; Lifeguard or swim experience preferred; a current and valid driver’s license; successful criminal background check.

Salary:

The salary is $49,000-$50,000 annually plus an excellent benefits package including medical insurance, life insurance, generous personal time off, paid holidays, vacation, free fitness membership, IPRA membership, retirement package.

Environment:

Lan-Oak Park District serves the community of Lansing, IL, with a population of 28,000. The park district offers 18 parks, a 3.25-mile bike path, multiple athletic fields, and courts, and a 60,000 square foot community center with a two-court gymnasium, gymnastics gym, full-service fitness center, 25-yard indoor pool, educational preschool, and multiple program rooms. Administrative and supervisor offices are housed in the community center.
