Pay: $25–$32/hour (overtime-heavy; high performers typically advance faster)

A Day in the Life

You start the morning reviewing detailed mechanical drawings and planning your build sequence. With hand and power tools at the ready, you assemble frames, align drive systems with motors and shafts, fit drums and rolls with precision bearings, and plumb pneumatic and hydraulic circuits. Sensors, brackets, and guarding go on next—everything squared, torqued, and verified. By afternoon, you’re running operational tests, dialing in the last thousandths to hit tolerance and finish specs. Forklifts and overhead cranes help you move major subassemblies safely. You wrap the day by updating documentation, performing preventative maintenance on your tools, and keeping the work area spotless—all while spotting ways to improve the process.

What You’ll Do

• Interpret complex mechanical/engineering drawings to plan builds
• Assemble custom industrial automated machines and subassemblies using hand and power tools
• Build, align, and install: frame assemblies; drive mechanisms, motors, and shafts; drums, rolls, bearings; pneumatic/hydraulic systems; sensors, brackets, and guarding
• Run operational checks, perform final adjustments, and verify tolerance, finish, and performance
• Move parts and equipment safely via forklifts and cranes
• Assist shipping/receiving of completed machines
• Conduct daily preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area; follow safety manuals and work instructions
• Recommend process and efficiency improvements; handle additional tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of machine building or industrial automation assembly experience
• Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings
• Hands-on assembly experience with automated machinery
• Proficient with hand tools and precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• Crane rigging experience (required)
• Forklift operation experience (certification preferred)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems
• Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate/technical degree or trade school credentials
• 5+ years in machine building or industrial automation
• Background as a maintenance or service technician
• Experience in custom, high-mix machinery environments

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods; frequent walking
• Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding manufacturing environment

Work Schedule & Overtime

• Standard shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• Open to extended hours such as 5:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Willingness to work significant overtime, including half-day Saturdays , strongly preferred
