Position Summary:
The Programming Director provides leadership and oversight of programs serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This role ensures smooth daily operations, supervises the supportive services team, and maintains compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.
The Programming Director champions the delivery of trauma-informed, person-centered services that foster housing stability and self-sufficiency. In partnership with the Executive Director, this position helps shape program strategy, expand community partnerships, and ensure alignment with the agency’s mission. The Programming Director also reports directly to the Executive Director on program activities, personnel performance, and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Clinical licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supportive housing or related community-based services serving individuals and families experiencing housing instability.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of supportive housing, motivational interviewing, substance use, mental health, and trauma-informed care practices preferred.
- Demonstrated success in program planning, implementation, and management, including meeting outcomes and reporting requirements for state and federal grants, preferred.
- Familiarity with HUD, IHDA, and other supportive housing programs preferred.

- Ability to effectively manage both program operations and supportive services.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the empowerment of marginalized populations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Conditions
- Full-time, primarily weekday schedule with some evening/weekend flexibility.
- Participation in after-hours on-call rotation required.
- Local, state and possibly federal travel required.
- Home visits with single adults, and families with children on the premises required.
- Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs are required.
- Regular use of hands for daily tasks such as operating a computer, handling files, and operating copiers/printers.
- Prolonged exposure to computer monitors at work
- Must be able to carry out activities that require flexibility and range of motion such as bending, stretching, reaching and stooping.
- Local, state and possibly federal travel required
Requirements
- Ability to travel for job related purposes and maintain required auto insurance.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Availability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
