Travel ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Decatur, Illinois 62526
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 20 beds
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse (locum tenens)
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (18:00 - 06:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2050
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Royal blue
• Parking: Free with permit

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central/PICC line care, and IV starts
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Pre/post cardiac cath/intervention and renal failure management experience
• Ability to float within scope to support hospital needs
• Availability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care to adults in the ICU, including those with cardiac, respiratory, and renal conditions
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and perform 12-lead EKGs
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterizations and interventions
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medications, and continuous IV sedation
• Manage ventilated patients and assist with respiratory therapies (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC)
• Perform arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and wound care
• Respond to code blue and rapid response situations
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, and pharmacy
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support hospital operations
