Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: N/A License: Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. Ability to document care accurately using EMR. Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to providing exceptional care. In this unit, nursing staff practice providing specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical care. The environment is fast-paced and always evolving. Responsibilities include performing all required duties specific to the scope of service. Implementing procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining accurate documentation of nursing care to assure the integration of information for the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Implementing nursing interventions and patient care procedures. Modifying plans of care based on continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicating with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. Conferring with colleagues to expand knowledge. Identifying learning needs and taking initiative for appropriate solutions. Fulfilling all departmental competencies. Floating to various inpatient units, including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Ortho, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab. Providing direct nursing care and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members. Conducting and documenting assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implementations, and evaluations of patient care. Acting as a resource to staff from various units. Coordinating care with multidisciplinary team members to facilitate high-quality patient care. Managing care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Identifying patient goals of care, designing, and maintaining care plans with patients and families. Implementing interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Preparing patients for procedures, providing pain management, performing IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitoring labs. Discharging patients and providing instruction for safe transition from the hospital. Documenting all care using electronic medical records. Ensuring team huddles occur and attending them. Delegating tasks with appropriate follow-up. Answering call lights and ensuring basic care such as turning, toileting, etc. is done per standards of care.
