Field researcher

I’m seeking one reliable and detail-oriented Field Researcher in the Chicago area. This is a short-term assignment for an academic research project, requiring researchers to visit 5 separate neighborhoods and 23 specific public locations. The role is to simply take photos of any publicly displayed materials (e.g., posters, flyers, signs), and submit them with brief location details. There is potential for future assignments upon successful completion of this phase, as part of ongoing research.

Responsibilities:

• Visit specific public locations (addresses and hours of operation will be provided).
• Take clear photos of any publicly displayed materials (e.g., posters, banners, flyers) using a smartphone or camera.
• Ensure all photos are well-lit, in focus, and capture the full content of the materials.
• Submit photos electronically along with a brief report for each location (name of location and any relevant observations).
• Complete the assignment within 2 days of receiving location details.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding the project’s purpose and details.

Requirements:

• Must have reliable transportation to get to assigned locations during specified hours.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently although it may be most helpful to you if you had someone drive while you popped into the location so no need to park!
• No prior research experience required, but familiarity with Chicago is a must.

Compensation and Future Opportunities:

• Compensation is a flat fee of $500.
• There will be future research opportunities as the project progresses.
• Pay is all-inclusive. Any out-of-pocket expenses for parking or gas are your responsibility.
