The Zhou Lab ( at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant or Specialist for an academic hourly position (~40 hours/week). Our research focuses on the intersection of vasculature, immunity, and regeneration , specifically exploring the "vascular niche" in lung repair.

This is an ideal role for a dedicated researcher looking to contribute to high-impact biomedical science in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Experimental Execution: Conduct core laboratory techniques including cell culture, PCR, antibody staining, and confocal microscopy.
• Animal Research Support: Assist with mouse colony management, genotyping, and fundamental in vivo procedures (e.g., IP injections, tissue harvesting).
• Laboratory Operations: Ensure smooth daily operations by preparing reagents (autoclaving, aliquoting), managing inventory, and maintaining meticulous lab records and protocols.
• Team Collaboration: Provide technical support to lab members and contribute to ongoing regenerative medicine projects.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences, biology, or a related field.
• Preferred: Master’s degree or 2+ years of hands-on wet-lab experience.
• Technical Skills: Prior experience with mouse handling and experimental surgery is a significant plus.
• Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment: Candidates must be able to commit to the position for at least one year .
