Position Description & Qualifications

Serco will support USACE in renovating the Power Building (J-Plant) and providing it with High Altitude Electro Magnetic Pulse (HEMP) protective measures.

The General Construction Electrician's primary role is to provide direct on-site electrical support to building construction and fabrication teams, such as installing and removing temporary power hardware, running conduit and cable for fabrication equipment, tracing cables to identify origin and end points, and isolating and applying LOTO to electrical circuits for construction personnel safety. The General Construction Electrician's secondary role is to help plan upcoming demolition and installation work through review of existing and design documentation, quality control planning, and schedule development. In some cases the General Construction Electrician will lead a small team on installation tasks.

In this role, you will:

• Work a 10hr shift on an active construction site

• Install and remove temp/construction power equipment

• Create submittals

• Review vendor and supplier documentation

• Create work plans to include material and tool needs, schedules, AHAs, and manning criteria

• Create and review Requests For Information (RFIs)

• Support project administration with creation of Purchase Requests

• Identify and specify material needs for installation activities

• Support generation of Activity Hazard Analyses

• Be familiar with project specifications and drawings

• Be familiar with electrical quality control testing, documentation, and reporting requirements

• Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed

• Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions

• Perform one or a combination of such typical duties as assembles or installs equipment or parts requiring wiring, soldering, or connecting

• Receive initial instructions as needed then perform work independently

• The General Construction Electrician typically reports to a Project Manager or Site Superintendent

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Hold an electrical license of journeyman or better

• A High School Diploma/GED

• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in construction, construction related, projects.

• Be capable of interpreting installation and construction drawings.

• Effective organizational, multi-tasking, analytical and confidentiality skills.

• Working knowledge of MS Office applications.

• Excellent customer service, communication, conflict resolution, presentation, and construction documentation comprehension skills.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

• Must be comfortable working a 10 hr shift in an arctic field/construction environment

• Willingness to travel up to 90%+ Valid U.S Passport

• Valid Drivers License and a clean driving record

Additional desired experience, skills, certifications:

• OSHA 10, 30, or 40 Certification

• OSHA 30 Qualified

• MWEP Training

• Forklift Training

• A basic understanding of EM 385-1-1

• Previous experience working at Pituffik Space Base or other overseas remote locations

• Familiarity with HEMP hardening or similar projects

• Class 5 & 7 forklift certification

• Scissor lift & aerial boom certificate

• Rigger training certificate

• Confined space training certificate

• CPR and first aid training certificate

• An Associate degree in a construction related or technical field from an accredited institution
