Travel Nursing Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Location: Urbana, Illinois (61801) – Illinois nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: General Operating Room
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract Registered Nurse
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 6, 2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour days)
• On Call: 4-5 shifts per 4-week period
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1750 - $1790 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of recent operating room RN experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Implement evidence-based procedures and nursing theories related to OR specialty
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care for the healthcare team
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Continuously evaluate and modify care plans based on patient and family needs
• Prepare the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, and medications
• Interview and transport patients safely; perform surgical timeouts at critical points
• Position and prep patients for surgical procedures using proper techniques
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, providing supplies, blood, specimens, and medications as needed
• Transport patients to PACU or designated unit and provide thorough handoff to receiving RN
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards
• Communicate effectively with healthcare colleagues and contribute to professional development
• Pursue ongoing education and fulfill all departmental competency requirements
