L3DFX is seeking a highly organized, creative, personable and experienced individual to take a role as a Mechanical Engineer. As part of our team, you would work with our Design and Production Department to ensure the successful development of a build strategy for your specified prop or scenic scope. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop build strategies, including frames, materials, cooperation, hardware, etc. to build custom elements such as show set pieces/static props.
- Assist design team to develop build approach and strategies to achieve client and project requirements.
- Identity and apply materials to be used in the build as well as create a Bill of Materials.
- Identify and source materials, parts or components for the project that will achieve the desired build objectives.
- Develop build order instructions as well as build drawings necessary for fabrication.
- Create final assembly or installation strategies for build and installation teams.
- Research, study and identify creative build strategies for implementation when necessary.
- Use Solidworks and CAD software to create preliminary and detailed models and drawings of the props, products or set pieces.
- Produce construction documentation and specifications for build.
- Cooperate with production staff to resolve any issues related to design.
- Travel to project sites may be required from time to time.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Design Manager.
