EMS Call Taker
:
Ambulance Communications Center - Call Taker
The Call Taker is responsible for handling all incoming calls to our EMS Communications Center. A desirable candidate will have knowledge of Medical Terminology and Customer Service experience. Candidate must have excellent communication and data entry skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance and medicar (wheelchair van) transportation.
- Properly screen telephone calls and electronic communications.
- Data entry.
- HIPAA Compliance.
- Ability to make decisions consistent with policy and guidelines.
- Ability to think logically and quickly during an emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in communications and customer service.
- Good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Detail-oriented and able to perform clerical functions.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, via telephone and radio to obtain and provide relevant information.

- This position is located in Skokie, IL
EDUCATION, LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed EMT, EMD, or experienced EMS Dispatch (preferred).
