Are you a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dog-filled environment? Do you love working hands-on with pets while also guiding a team to deliver exceptional care and service? Pet Care Plus is looking for an Assistant Pet Care Manager to help lead our Pet Care Operations team and ensure every guest is safe, happy, and healthy.

This is not a desk job. You’ll be on the floor, in the playrooms, supporting your team, connecting with pet parents, and helping drive a positive, high-energy culture.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Develop the Team
You’ll organize daily activities, keep shifts running smoothly, and make sure tasks are completed accurately and on time. You’ll coach, train, and mentor team members while reinforcing company standards and procedures. You’ll also support hiring efforts and step in with coaching or performance conversations when needed.

Own the Daily Operation
From managing staffing levels to helping build schedules, you’ll work closely with leadership to ensure the team is set up for success—both day-to-day and long-term. You’ll help anticipate staffing needs, adjust coverage in real time, and maintain operational flow.

Be a Go-To Leader
You’ll serve as a key point of contact for pet care operations during your shift, communicating effectively with leadership and escalating issues when needed. You’ll also participate in an on-call manager rotation.

Deliver Outstanding Customer Service
You’ll step in to assist with check-ins and check-outs during busy periods or after hours, communicate clearly and professionally with pet parents, provide updates, and resolve guest concerns or incident reports with care and urgency.

Work Hands-On with Dogs
You’ll actively handle dogs throughout the day—leading group play, walking dogs, engaging them in enrichment activities, and monitoring for any health or behavior concerns. You’ll also conduct temperament tests and respond appropriately to ensure a safe environment.

Ensure Excellent Pet Care
You’ll oversee feeding, medication administration, hydration, and daily wellness checks, ensuring all care is delivered accurately and documented properly.

Maintain a Clean & Safe Facility
You’ll help uphold a clean, organized, and sanitary environment by overseeing daily cleaning protocols, safely using cleaning products, managing laundry, and ensuring all pet spaces are well maintained.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a professional pet care environment (daycare, boarding, vet, shelter, etc.)
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience
• A strong passion for animals and commitment to high-quality care
• Confidence handling dogs of all sizes and managing group play
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accountability
• Reliable, team-oriented, and positive under pressure

Physical & Schedule Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stay active throughout the day
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in a pet care environment
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
