Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Oak Lawn, IL 60453 (Chicago area healthcare job)
• Facility: Hospital – Level 1 Trauma Center, Magnet hospital, comprehensive stroke center
• Patient Population: PICU, general pediatric care, pediatric emergency department
• Employment Type: Travel contract
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 3, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 holiday per contract

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2070-$2120

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT)
• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Recent hands-on experience with EPIC EMR (required)
• Proficient in ventilator management (Servo-U, Servo-I, Hamilton, V60, Vivo, EVO, Trilogy)
• Skilled in ABG draw/analysis (Gem 5000), intubation assistance, ventilator weaning/extubation, BiPAP/CPAP, nebulizer treatments
• Experience with advanced respiratory modalities: Cough Assist, CPT, IPV, Meta Neb
• Comfortable floating to multiple hospital units as needed
• Scrub color: Pewter Gray
• No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory therapy services in PICU, pediatric units, and pediatric emergency department
• Operate and manage advanced ventilators and respiratory equipment
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) tests
• Assist with intubation, extubation, and ventilator weaning for pediatric patients
• Administer a range of respiratory treatments and modalities as ordered by physicians
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including 24/7 RT and hospitalist support
• Float to various hospital units to support patient care as needed
• Accurately document all care and procedures in EPIC EMR
• Attend a one-day orientation prior to starting contracted shifts
