Summary

As a member of the Supply Chain team, the Strategic Purchasing Manager manages and collaborates with suppliers for raw materials used in the manufacture of foundry resins, resin coated sands, refractory coatings, and Chemex feeders. You'll also develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies.

Essential Functions

• Directs and manages the supply base for all raw materials assigned at HAI manufacturing facilities by developing strategic sourcing strategies for all key commodities; growing and/or maintaining suppliers that provide quality products and delivery performance, at a competitive price. This includes: negotiating price and T&C's, resolving supply issues and invoice discrepancies, and facilitating alternate sourcing initiatives with R&D and Product Management.
• Supports HAI manufacturing facilities to ensure; proper supplier selection at the site level, effective inventory planning is achieved, sourcing strategies are executed, and expected supplier performance is maintained.
• Leads supplier selection, negotiations, and materials planning in support of new business development opportunities.
• Develops and implements supply solutions to achieve cost savings objectives and/or mitigate risk from single/sole sourced relationships for raw materials assigned.
• Conducts contract negotiations for key commodities as required.
• Manages distribution networks for raw materials as assigned.
• Uses KPI's and reports to manage spend data, commodity strategies, pricing matrices, and corporate reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficient in all Microsoft Office 365 programs.

Education and Experience

• BA/BS Bachelor Degree, preferably in Operations/Supply Chain Management.
• Minimum 3-5 years in Procurement management or related roles, preferably in the chemical industry.
• Solid knowledge and experience in SAP or similar ERP system.
• Excellent negotiations and supplier relations skills.
• APICS or CPSM certification preferred.
• Able to travel to plant facilities, customer locations, and meetings with suppliers as required.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• The work environment will be a combination of an office environment when working out of the corporate office and an industrial environment when visiting our facilities, customers, or suppliers.
• Travel up to 30%.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
