Histology Technician receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special procedures for the pathologist review. Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining. Cleans and maintains instruments/work area and keeps accurate tissue and slide records. Complies with established laboratory policies of universal precautions and safety. Reports directly to the supervisor of Histology and indirectly to the Laboratory Medical Director.

Position Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completion of and certification of an accredited histotechnology program is preferred.
