The opportunity
Handling tax in such a large, sophisticated organization takes more than just a technical understanding of current tax practices. As a Sales and Use Tax Senior Manager, we will look to you to lead engagements on a wide range of tax areas and processes, devising strategic outcomes to some very complex issues. As a Senior Manager in Indirect Tax, you will advise on regulatory changes, assess and support compliance and reporting needs for both public and private entities. You'll develop and implement strategies, operating models, and compliance frameworks to manage indirect taxes throughout the tax lifecycle, increasing operational efficiency and ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities for tax optimization, credits and refund recovery, and exposure reduction; managing indirect tax strategies, compliance, remediation processes, controversies, and corrective filings; and supporting tax process review and technology transformation to enhance service offerings.
Your key responsibilities
As a Senior Manager, your core purpose is to lead the delivery of complex processes, solutions, and projects, maintaining a strong focus on quality and risk management while navigating operational and organizational dynamics. You'll be accountable for program and project management, resource planning, and engagement economics, and will provide leadership and direction to teams with broad visibility. This role presents the challenge of solving complex problems, driving innovation, and delivering thought leadership in a dynamic environment. You'll learn to manage client relationships, revenue generation, and commercial engagements, while developing deep insight into indirect tax best practices. Regular travel required to meet external client needs.

Connecting with our clients about their business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needs

To qualify for the role, you must have

Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline; master's degree preferred.

CPA license, state bar membership, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation or CMI designation is required

8+ years of professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools

Significant experience managing budgets, people and projects

A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization

Technical writing and research experience in a tax context

The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects

Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes

Exposure to business development

Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment

Experience with indirect tax refund and recovery review.

Strong understanding of data quality and accounting principles and standards.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $135,000 to $308,500. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $162,100 to $350,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
