We are seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. This 40-hour/week position (four 10-hour days) is primarily based at MGH Danvers (three days/week) with one day/week at MGH Boston. The NP will independently evaluate and manage patients with benign colorectal conditions and pelvic floor disorders with comprehensive training provided for in-office procedures such as hemorrhoid banding incision and drainage and anorectal manometry. The role includes running parallel clinics alongside colorectal surgeons with no call or weekend responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of six NPs.

Job Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date).
National Board Certification as an Adult Adult-Gerontology Family Womens Health or Acute Nurse Practitioner.
Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (or eligibility to obtain).
BLS certification

Clinical Experience
Minimum 12 years of NP experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical backgrounds and interest in colorectal surgery or pelvic floor disorders are encouraged to apply.
Experience in outpatient specialty care surgery GI urogynecology primary care or related fields is beneficial but not required.
Comfort with independent patient evaluation and management within a collaborative practice model.

Skills & Competencies
Ability to perform comprehensive histories and physical exams develop differential diagnoses and formulate treatment plans for benign colorectal and pelvic floor conditions.
Willingness to learn and perform in-office procedures including hemorrhoid banding incision and drainage and anorectal manometry (training provided).
Strong clinical judgment critical thinking and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with colorectal surgeons NPs RNs and support staff.
Ability to manage a parallel clinic efficiently and independently.
Commitment to patient-centered care quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients medical and/or surgical including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

-Provides direct care counseling and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory inpatient operative and/or procedural setting
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations
-Orders interprets and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic laboratory and physical examination findings
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes procedure notes operative notes and discharge summaries
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
