Insurance Paralegal

American Freedom Insurance Company (AFIC) is a leader in the nonstandard automobile insurance industry. We are a growing midsized, profitable company doing business in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas soon. We are looking for a dedicated Paralegal to contribute their skills in a fast paced and developing organization. AFIC is a financially strong "A+" Superior rated insurance company by A.M. Best. This position is located in Mt Prospect - a northwest suburb of Chicago.

Responsibilities:

• Review first and third party pre litigation and litigation automobile claims for coverage and settlement
• Negotiate favorable resolutions with law firms and individuals, respond to demand letters, and generate evaluations on assigned cases
• Research and analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation such as insurance policies, lien language, settlement releases, laws, regulations, etc.
• Collaborate with internal clients, departments, and outside counsel on assigned matters to protect and mitigate risk to the Company
• Contribute to the development of internal policies, guidelines, toolkits, and job-aids to mitigate risk
• Work in partnership with managers and supervisors within the Claim Department
• Maintain an effective and organized operation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 2 years work experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience negotiating either professionally or personally
• Proficiency with technology
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• A responsible, conscientious nature and the ability to fast track claims
• Ability to learn and develop an expertise in insurance coverages and policy contracts
• Good problem-solving aptitude
• Attention to detail and excellent quality of work
