The Chicago College of Performing Arts is hiring an adjunct instructor in Studio Recording. The course is in the Recording/Engineering Track of the BMA Interdisciplinary Music Industry degree. Depending on skills and experience, there is potential instructional opportunity in the three music industry tracks: Recording/Engineering, Live Sound, General Music Industry.



Job Duties:

  • Successful retention of students by means of effective and healthy pedagogy.
  • Clear and timely communications.
  • Timely submission of all grades.
  • Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding).
  • Submission of a studio syllabus each semester (university-mandated template will be provided) documenting all studio policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria.



This position entails the following category of instruction:

  • Introduces multi-track recording within the studio environment and provides hands-on approach to instrument and vocal recording.
  • Aesthetics, signal flow, control surfaces, microphone selection, monitoring, and recorders are covered.
  • Students gain the skills needed for engineering a recording session.

The salary for this 3 credit course is $3,982.

  • Documented record of consistent professional experience in studio recording and engineering.
  • Additional experience in Live Sound and General Music Industry is welcomed

Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
