Spur Staffing is looking for a dedicated Seasonal Park Maintenance worker, committed to providing a clean and fun environment for the Decatur Municipality. Decatur Municipality is seeking a professional with a work ethic, problem solving and interpersonal relations skills with a desire to invoke positive change in the Decatur Municipality. The ideal worker will understand the importance of appearance of the City Parks and related areas. Work will be completed under direct supervision of an appointed supervisor, however, there is some leeway granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative.

Skills required:

* be able to work within a noisy environment, subject to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts

* Know the importance of using proper safety equipment such as glasses, gloves, and hearing protection

* Be able to handle the heat, working outside for extended periods of time

* Be able to stand, stoop and squat for periods of time

* Be able to push, pull, or lift up to 25 pounds

Major Duties Include But Not Limited To:

* Mowing grass / weed eating

* Cleaning and painting concession stands, field houses and related parks and recreation facilities

* Collecting litter and debris Emptying park garbage cans and hauling waste to the city dump

* Applying pesticides under close supervision

* Using hand tools such as picks, shovels, and rakes Operating power equipment including chainsaws, edgers, weed eaters, push and riding mowers, backhoes and field painters

* Inventory management of Parks and Recreation areas, informing the supervisor of any needed repairs and/or maintenance

* Cleaning, weeding, mulching, and watering flower beds General maintenance of flower beds and shrubbery such as cleaning the flowers, and pruning shrubbery

Uniform: Decatur will provide uniform requirements once hired.

Status: Part-time / Up to 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: $12.00 p/hour
