You walk the line of yellow buses, listening, scanning, connecting diagnostics, and making calls that keep students and drivers safe. In this role, you’ll be the steady hand behind a reliable school bus fleet—tuning engines, tracking repairs, and collaborating with a team that values precision and accountability.

What You’ll Do

• Complete routine maintenance and corrective repairs on diesel-powered school buses—powertrain, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and suspensions.
• Diagnose mechanical concerns, troubleshoot effectively, and restore optimal vehicle performance.
• Perform safety inspections and uphold all applicable state and federal compliance requirements.
• Document service activities with meticulous repair and maintenance records for every unit.
• Partner with fellow technicians and operations staff to streamline workflow and service quality.
• Keep current with evolving diesel technologies and industry best practices.
• Offer professional, courteous support to drivers and school administrators on vehicle issues and service needs.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma/certification in diesel mechanics is preferred.
• Hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic/technician—experience with school buses is a plus.
• In-depth understanding of diesel engine systems and components.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and related tools.
• Strong troubleshooting ability with keen attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
