Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. Outreach is hiring a Temporary Accountant at Outreach Central Office to support various accounting and finance functions and participate as a member of the Finance Office team. Full-time Temporary Employment from January 2026 until May 2026.

Responsibilities
- The Accountant will process daily deposits, book accounts receivable, initiate online banking transactions, prepare bank reconciliations, and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.
- The Accountant will work on maintaining subsidiary ledgers, preparing monthly state sales tax filings, and processing monthly retail sales tax filings with the state of Illinois.
- The Accountant receives rent payments and maintains reports for rent, security deposits, and current lease files for Jubilee Village Apartments and maintains reports for Transitional Housing program fees, security deposits and savings.
- The Accountant will assist with monthly closing, reporting, account analysis, and preparing annual audit work papers.
- The Accountant will report to the Controller, provide backup coverage for the other team members, support special one-time projects, and be cross-trained in all accounting functions.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- At least 3-5 years of related experience.
- A/R experience preferred.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and accounting software.
- Previous experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
- Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills; keen analytic skills, effective project management ability, ability to multi-task and maintain a high-level of attention to detail; ability to effectively collaborate with a team.
- A commitment to Outreach’s Statement of Mission and Faith required.
