Field Marketing Specialist

Red Bull
Bloomington, IL

The Field Marketing Specialist (FMS) reports to the Manager of Field Marketing and assists the Field Marketing Manager (FMM) in establishing Red Bull as the leading brand in their region. The FMS serves as the representative of Red Bull in their local market, aligning their efforts with global and national strategies and priorities in the most relevant manner.

Key responsibilities include gathering valuable local insights by building strong networks within specific communities and environments, including key local creators. The FMS contributes input to the development and execution of innovative marketing initiatives that address local needs and characteristics across the four pillars of the marketing mix: Consumer Collecting, Sports, Culture, and Communications. Additionally, they leverage both On Premise and Off Premise channels.

Positioned "in the field," the Field Marketing Specialist manages a local team of Student Marketeers and brings the world of Red Bull to life both on campus and within the wider market, targeting new entry-point consumers effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Areas that play to your strengths

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

  • Establish clear objectives with the Consumer Collecting Manager (CCM) and Field Marketing Manager (FMM) to conduct trials that effectively engage new users and expand the consumer base both on and off campus within your region.

Clearly articulate expectations and guidelines for Student Marketeers, enabling them to efficiently plan and execute trial-driving strategies in the market and integrate them into student life during critical moments and consumption occasions.

Develop and maintain a robust sales support program aimed at improving product distribution, fostering excitement among trade partners, and enhancing in-store visibility on and around university campuses.

Collaborate with your team to design appealing and relevant university initiatives that strengthen brand presence and cultivate brand loyalty among students.

Leverage program tools and reporting features to ensure the program targets the right student demographics, tracks performance effectively, and identifies opportunities to reach new consumers, thereby enabling smarter program execution.

Provide coaching and empower team members during the planning process to encourage an ongoing flow of innovative mission ideas for expanding the user base.

Manage sampling requests both internally and externally, ensuring alignment with overall program priorities.

Foster effective consumer engagement during trials by addressing barriers and addressing negative perceptions to ensure a positive experience.

  • Develop and support key events, activities, and marketing initiatives that align with Red Bull's brand values and resonate with the local audience, both within the market and on university campuses, with a strong emphasis on encouraging participation.

Assist in executing a balanced program that incorporates third-party event collaborations within relevant sports and cultural contexts, both on campus and within the broader community.

Identify local opinion leaders at the collegiate and market levels within Red Bull’s core scenes, and collaborate with the Field Marketing Manager (FMM) to introduce them to the World of Red Bull.

Play a key role in the successful implementation of national and global events and projects, ensuring they are executed with excellence.

Integrate Indirect Sampling initiatives into the strategy to expand reach in less accessible occasions, enabling opportunities to surprise and delight consumers.

Activate national brand pillars, major events, and global campaigns in and around university environments, ensuring alignment with overarching program goals.

  • Collaborate closely with the Field Marketing Manager (FMM) to develop, implement, and oversee locally relevant ideas that complement the activation of global and national initiatives.

Engage the Consumer Collecting team in brainstorming sessions to generate field-specific ideas, leveraging their personal university lifestyle to identify emerging consumer trends driven by technology, digital platforms, and social behaviors.

Lead creative sessions with Student Marketeers to ensure a consistent flow of innovative ideas that foster loyalty within the student demographic (e.g., conducting focus groups).

Develop a deep understanding of the consumer landscape and determine effective strategies to engage and reach diverse consumers across various consumption occasions, using both direct and indirect sampling methods.

  • Be a role model by embodying and demonstrating Red Bull's core values through a consistent tone that motivates and inspires. Ensure the appropriate programs are set up in the most effective areas to reach the target audience, and remain adaptable with resources to strategically align efforts with opportunities.

Focus on driving efficiencies within our programs by utilizing tools designed to set us up for success and ensure optimized operations. Provide support for the local logistics system by equipping the team with the right tools, proper warehousing, and effective management practices. Strive to deliver excellence in premium appearance and tool management.

Collaborate with the national operations team to manage product stock with discipline and accuracy. Regularly maintain and oversee the program tools, mini fleet, and other branded items, ensuring that all assets are maintained to a premium standard.
