We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused General Labor – Welder Helper to join our growing team. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment, particularly those who have supported welding operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting welders, maintaining workflow efficiency, and ensuring a clean and safe production environment.

This position requires flexibility, physical endurance, and a strong work ethic, as duties will vary throughout the day to meet production demands.

Schedule:

Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Location Requirement: Must have reliable transportation and reside within 30 minutes of DeKalb, IL.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist welders with setup, preparation, and cleanup of work areas

• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and organizing components

• Perform flaring and rolling operations as needed

• Trim, grind, and finish metal surfaces to meet quality standards

• Operate or assist with planishing machines to solidify welds

• Support laser machine operations, including setup, de-skeletonizing parts, and post-process grinding

• Package custom and customer-specific orders accurately and efficiently

• Load and unload machinery, materials, and finished products

• Handle raw materials and finished goods using proper lifting techniques and equipment

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA guidelines

• Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including staging and organizing inventory

• Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, stacking, and material handling

• Cross-train in multiple departments and adapt to changing daily tasks

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3–5 years of work history in manufacturing, industrial, or related environments

• Prior experience supporting welding operations preferred (welding experience is a plus)

• Familiarity with machine operation and repetitive manufacturing processes

• Experience with material handling and basic fabrication tools

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent hand-eye coordination and visual acuity

• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety standards at all times

• Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods

• Ability to lift medium to heavy loads regularly

• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
