Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Drafter

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer/Drafter who is proficient in using AutoCAD and possesses strong experience in drafting and design. This role involves developing and revising production drawings, drafting detailed multi-view product designs, and maintaining organized file systems for production drawings. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of engineering practices, mathematics, and building materials.

Responsibilities

• Use computer-assisted design/drafting (AutoCAD) equipment and software to develop designs.

• Create and revise production drawings.

• Make final sketches of proposed drawings, checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, and the relation of parts to the whole structure or project.

• Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

• Draft detailed multi-view drawings of products.

• Draw finished designs from sketches.

• Update Drafting and Engineering Standards.

• Set up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings.

• Convert existing production drawings to AutoCAD format.

• Communicate with tooling, QA, engineering, and manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.

• Gain a working knowledge of carrier by learning the manufacturing process of the product.

Essential Skills

• Associates Degree in a related field.

• Proven AutoCAD experience.

• Drafting/Design experience.

• Experience with 3D design (Inventor preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in sheet metal design.

• Experience with Inventor.

• Knowledge of BOM (Bill of Materials).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale Heights, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
