Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the second-in-command in the kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain high culinary standards, and ensure that every dish meets our quality expectations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a passion for creating exceptional food in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation

• Assist in managing all kitchen activities to ensure smooth service and consistent food quality.

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and guest expectations.

• Supervise food prep, cooking, and plating during service.

• Maintain portion, cost, and waste control procedures.

Leadership & Staff Management

• Oversee kitchen staff during shifts, ensuring teamwork and efficient workflow.

• Train, coach, and mentor cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers.

• Lead by example with professionalism, punctuality, and high standards.

• Step in for the Executive Chef as needed to run kitchen operations.

Inventory & Ordering

• Assist in monitoring inventory levels and placing orders to maintain stock without over-purchasing.

• Check deliveries for quality, accuracy, and freshness.

• Help manage food costs and reduce waste through proper storage and rotation.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Ensure all staff follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a leadership kitchen role.

• Strong culinary skills with knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.

• Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

• ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification (or ability to obtain).

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods.

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
