Prep Cook

Maplewood Brewery Public House is seeking strong prep cooks to join our team. Prep cooks are an integral part of any kitchen team. Prep cooks complete a variety of tasks including but not limited to processing raw vegetables and meats, cutting, chopping, slicing, and making marinades and sauces.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 1 year of prep experience in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant.
• Food Handler certification required; food manager certification preferred
• Passion for excellence, superior service standards, and a positive attitude.
• Open availability including mornings, weekends, and around holidays
• Familiarity with a variety of cooking techniques, cuisines, tools and kitchen equipment
• Punctual and reliable
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift, including frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stooping.
• Strong desire to learn and strong ability to take direction
• Intermediate knife skills
• Ability to read, speak, write and comprehend English, the primary language of instruction
• Ability to remain positive and productive in a potentially hot or cold work environment
• Preferred experience with pizza dough making, pastry, and smoking and curing meats

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Set up and stock station with all necessary supplies, ensuring proper inventory control.
• Prepare foods in appropriate amounts dictated by daily prep sheets and by using best judgment based on business needs
• Cook and prepare menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff according to established recipes, ensuring food quality and time standards are always met.
• Answer, report to, and follow instructions and direction from Chef and supervisory staff
• Properly clean and break down station at the end of prep shift, ensuring all food handling and food storage standards are met.
• Ensure that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations at all times.
• Assist with receiving and checking incoming orders, putting away incoming orders and supplies in their appropriate areas
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, leadership, and vendors.
