Coordinate Metrology Programmer (Aerospace Precision Components)
Own the Measurements that Make Flight Possible
In our precision aerospace manufacturing facility, you will be the specialist who transforms drawings and models into reliable measurement routines. As a CMM expert, you’ll develop, maintain, and execute programs that validate high-tolerance machined components against customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
A Day in the Life
You start by reviewing the latest engineering models and GD&T callouts. A first article arrives—its critical features demand microns of accuracy. You create a robust CMM routine, verify alignment strategies, and run the program. Midday, you support production with in-process inspections, analyzing results to keep the line moving. You collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve a nonconformance, update the program, and document corrective actions. Before end of shift, you verify calibration status on your CMM and prep for an upcoming customer audit.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, program, and execute CMM inspection routines for machined aerospace components.
- Interpret engineering drawings, models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to build accurate and efficient measurement strategies.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections with traceable documentation to quality standards.
- Analyze inspection data, report results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming parts.
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to elevate inspection methods and throughput.
- Maintain calibration and verification of CMMs and related tooling.
- Assist with internal and customer audits, ensuring compliance to AS9100 and specific customer requirements.
Experience You Bring
- 3+ years programming and operating CMM equipment in a machining environment.
- Deep command of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Background inspecting tight-tolerance aerospace components.
- Proficiency with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and documentation discipline.
Preferred
- Hands-on aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience creating and documenting FAIRs/FAIs.
- Exposure to CNC machining or manufacturing engineering.
- Strength in troubleshooting measurement issues and optimizing CMM programs.
Why You’ll Like It Here
- Direct-hire role in a stable aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Clean, organized, quality-driven shop floor with modern equipment.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
- Long-term career growth within quality and inspection.
