Senior Scientist, Research and Development

BiomeSense is a start-up revolutionizing human gut microbiome sampling and analysis, driving discovery, and enabling the development of microbiome-based precision medicine. Our innovative approach integrates two core advancements: hardware that facilitates daily microbiome sampling as a routine exercise, and AI-driven analytics to unlock novel datasets for biomarker discovery.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Research and Development team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise and collaborative spirit in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will play a key role in advancing our sample-to-answer multi-omic platform technology, focusing on core scientific principles related to metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and operational scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Execution:

• Design, validate, and optimize molecular multi-omics pipelines for fecal samples, ensuring scientific rigor and innovation.
• Develop and implement scalable workflows for sample handling in an operationally efficient laboratory setting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with engineers, software developers, and product teams to ensure protocols are automatable and seamlessly integrated with BiomeSense's platform.
• Contribute scientific expertise to cross-functional project teams, supporting product development and process improvement.

Team Support & Mentorship:

• Mentor junior scientists and research associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications:

• PhD or MS in molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field with 3+ years of experience in industry settings.
• Deep expertise in metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, or related '-omics' fields, with hands-on experience in NGS technologies and data interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor scientific teams in high-intensity environments.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a competitive total compensation package of $120K - $150K, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
