Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Dynamic mental health leader with proven expertise in clinical supervision, program management, and policy implementation. Skilled in implementing policies, providing training, and ensuring compliance with departmental standards to maintain high-quality, evidence-based care. Adept at conducting clinical reviews, leading crisis response teams, and collaborating with administrators to optimize resources and treatment outcomes. Essential Functions
- Serves as a full line supervisor.
- Participates in monthly staff meetings, facility staff meetings, and mental health team meetings.
- Serves as Crisis Team leader.
- Certifies mental health programs are in compliance with standards, rules, and directives.
- Receives clinical oversight from the Regional Psychological Administrator.
- Uses a variety of computer software products to gather data for the purpose of formulating reports, responding to internal and external queries and to effectively communicate policy and procedural practice and changes to affected staff.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) licensed under the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act (225 ILCS 107) and issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in professional behavioral health-related work experience involving evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, neurodevelopmental disabled persons. Of the three (3) years, one (1) year must be supervisory, administrative, or managerial experience in a behavioral health-related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience applying advanced knowledge of theories and assumptions underlying the field of psychology in an adult correctional facility.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience providing clinical supervision in areas related to behavioral health to accomplish the agency’s goals and objectives.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience conducting and participating in quality assurance processes.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience using a variety of computer software products to gather data for the purpose of formulating reports, responding to internal and external queries, and to effectively communicate policy and procedural practices and changes.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience providing fair, principled, and decisive leadership that is consistent with policies.
- Prefers two (2) years of experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Prefers knowledge of relevant clinical accreditation standards [Mental Health focused].
Conditions of Employment
- Requires an active license as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) licensed under the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act (225 ILCS 107).
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
