Deli Associate
Core Responsibilities and Duties
- Customer Service: Greeting customers, taking orders, offering samples, and providing product recommendations.
- Food Preparation: Slicing deli meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, preparing party trays, and managing hot foods like rotisserie chicken.
- Sanitation & Safety: Cleaning equipment (slicers, knives, counters), ensuring proper food temperatures, following safety regulations, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Merchandising: Stocking display cases, rotating products for freshness, and updating price tags.
- Inventory Management: Receiving deliveries, checking in orders, and managing inventory levels.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Customer Service Focus: Strong communication skills and a polite demeanor.
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate deli machinery (slicers, scales, ovens) and basic math for weighing/pricing items.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for long periods.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of health department guidelines (food handler’s permit required)
- Flexibility: Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and work varied shifts, including weekends
