Mechanic's Assistant (Part-time)

The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (13,463 – 2020 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and manufacturing areas. The Village is seeking an individual to serve as a part-time Mechanic’s Assistant. Work involves performance of a variety of tasks which includes oil changes, picking up vehicle parts, maintaining parts inventory, daily garage maintenance, assisting the Chief Mechanic and entering daily work logs. Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated. Work may include the operation of motorized equipment as well as required heavy physical labor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform oil changes and basic mechanical repairs

• Maintain inventory in garage

• Vehicle part pick-up and delivery

• Assist with road calls

• Deliver vehicles for inspections

• Obtain part quotes for Chief Mechanic

Required Skills/Education/Experience

The candidate’s education shall include a high school diploma and a Class D Driver’s License. The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and abilities: attention to detail and accuracy, interpersonal skills, personal integrity, respect, and a passion for public service.

Hours and Compensation

The salary range for this position is $19.49 to $24.97 hourly. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. This position is eligible for overtime. All applicants must be able to work 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
