Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description

The Staff Accountant role supports core accounting and accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, reconciling AP activity, supporting month-end close, and maintaining accurate financial records. This position partners with internal teams and a shared services AP group to ensure timely vendor payments, resolve discrepancies, assist with journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, and support audits and compliance requirements while contributing to ongoing process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and enter invoices into SAP for multiple entities, ensuring proper approvals, accuracy, and compliance with company guidelines.

• Reconcile vendor statements, AP sub-ledger activity, and monthly aging reports.

• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive, professional communication.

• Address internal stakeholder questions regarding invoice status, payments, and AP processes.

• Maintain organized, accurate documentation of invoices, payments, and AP correspondence.

• Support AR processes including invoicing, cash application, and collections as needed.

• Assist with month-end close activities such as account analysis, accruals, and journal entries.

• Prepare and analyze financial information related to assets, liabilities, and capital to support account reconciliations and financial reporting.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and tax requirements, including 1099 reporting.

• Support internal and external audit procedures by providing accurate, timely documentation.

• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 1-2 years of relevant accounting or accounts payable experience

• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

• Experience with accounting or ERP systems, SAP preferred

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wood Dale, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $38.50/hr.
