Position Summary
Provides supervision to a team of 12 +/- employees in a 40-bed facility specializing in working with adolescent males ages 12 to 19 having significant behavioral issues due to significant trauma and other difficult events. Unit coordinator work under the broad supervision, operationalizing the policies and programs as determined by the Chief of Operations (COO), requiring a level of independent judgment and independent action. Reports directly to the Chief of Operations (COO). Provides direct supervision and training to a team of youth care workers on each unit and 1 Team Lead. Responsible for after hours on call, oversees daily operations, leads weekly staff meetings, participates in leadership management team meetings and is responsible for program implementation and complete management of each shift. (Pay will be prorated for part-time employees. (If Unit Coordinator agrees to work extra hours pay will prorated accordingly if approved by CEO, COO, or Director. However, it must be approved prior to working.)
Unit Coordinator Qualifications:
? Be at least 25 years of age;
? Have two years of college credits;
? Have two years of full-time experience in a residential child care program;
? Must have a valid driver’s license, valid/current auto insurance policy and be able to be cleared by DCFS to be on agency approved driver list.
Unit coordinator Responsibilities :
Unit coordinator leads the day-to-day operations for program(s) providing services to youth in residential care. This position will work closely with the other 4-5 Unit coordinator and have shared responsibilities. The position has a balance of Unit coordinator duties. The unit coordinators will report to the COO and will require developing a strong relationship with their Co- Unit coordinator who share duties and management of direct care staff. The Unit coordinator is responsible for coordinating all operations and activities of the agency while maintaining order and operations of the agency during his or her assigned shift. Responsible for supervising all aspects in the treatment milieu, providing therapeutic interactions and directing and documenting all issues. Participate in crisis de-escalation when needed. The Unit coordinator will receive supervision by the Chief of Operations (COO) in weekly face-to-face supervision sessions, which may be in a group format, for the purpose of professional development. The Unit coordinator reports to COO for all absences, tardiness or any other questions or concerns regarding job requirements and position. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, budgeting, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements:Working Conditions: Physical Effort: Mental/visual stress related to viewing of computer screens and printed material for prolonged periods. Lifting limited to a box of forms weighing 7-8 pounds. Prolonged periods of sitting. May experience stress related to productivity requirements.Work Environment: Normal office environment with limited exposure to health or accident hazards. Note: We are a therapeutic residential treatment facility and at times, it can be noisy and stressful. This position has no interactions with youth.Equipment Used: Computer, telephone, printer, calculator, fax machine, and copy reproduction equipmentAt TCI, we have a positive, family oriented working approach while treating each other with respect.
Physical Elements Required:
Lifting and carrying 5-7 pounds, be without physical limitation that would impair ability to fulfill the functions of the position. Must have sufficient mobility, physical stamina to travel all over facility and to participate in a therapeutic crisis intervention full, prone restraint.
Frequent bending, stooping kneeling, and reaching, stretching;
Standing for long periods of time;
Work requires the ability to work both indoors and outdoors
Mental Performing Elements
Must be without emotional limitations that would impair ability to fulfill the functions of this job including freedom from substance abuse.
