Mainence Mechanic 2nd shift
Shift: Mond to Thurs 4pm - 2:30am
Pay Rate: $21
Location: Niles, IL
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all plant equipment by performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic repairs and preventive maintenance. This role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures using technical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and control system principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems (PLCs/SLCs, VFDs, SCRs, motor starters).
- Use drawings, P&IDs, and manuals to tune and optimize equipment operation.
- Operate and monitor instruments such as gauges, RTDs, pressure transmitters, I/Ps, and vortex flow meters.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with GMP and Safety guidelines.
- Train new associates and team members in maintenance skill sets.
- Support operations with basic equipment troubleshooting and production assistance.
- Perform general plumbing, metalworking, and facility/building maintenance as needed.
- Work collaboratively within a self-directed work team .
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of maintenance experience in food processing or manufacturing .
- Strong troubleshooting skills on production equipment with advanced control systems.
- Solid mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control logic knowledge.
- Ability to train and mentor maintenance associates.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, metalworking, and general facility maintenance.
- Strong awareness of and adherence to safety guidelines .
